An amazing statement
Eric and Helen Rasmusen (a family in our church) lost both Eric's parents and their second daughter, of their 5 children, Elizabeth in a car/train collision on Monday. This is the statement that Eric sent to Herald-Times that showed up on the front page in the Wednesday paper.
"We are blessed. We have four wonderful children, and we had Lizzie for nine years. My parents lived their threescore and ten and more, and died quickly, and I was able to share 50 happy years with them."

Finally
It has been four long years but it finally happened. Today the Dave Matthews Band released their new album Big Whiskey and the Groo Grux King. I know that there are those who don't like Dave or don't like his new stuff, so I won't try to tell you that this is a great album. I love this band and this is a great day.

Southern Rock Rocks
When I think of good old southern rock the Eagles and Tom Petty come to mind. It's rock and roll with that good 'ol country grillin', Budweiser drinkin', horseshoe tossing feel to it.
So, if you love this kinda music as much as I, then check out these bands - My Morning Jacket (Amazed, Highly Suspicious, Gideon, Golden), Avett Brothers (Tear Down This House, Will You Return, Four Thieves Gone), Band of Horses (General Specific, Great Salt Lake, Marry Song), Deer Tick (Ashamed, Baltimore Blues #1), and Driv-By Truckers (My Sweet Annette).

Music for the chicken soup for the soul of the...
MUSIC UPDATE
I just got the Avett Brother's album Emotionalism and it is sweet. If you don't have the album get it or atleast check out Die Die Die and The Ballad of Love and Hate.
The album Everything All the Time by Band of Horses is sweet as well. I am not sure which of their albums I like better. Just gotta have 'em both.
Say what you want to about the new U2 album, but make sure that you have really listened to Moment of Surrender before you attempt to diss this disc.
