Into The Blue...

What can I say about this flick? How much can I talk about Jessica Alba until I get into deep trouble?

This is what I'll say and than I'll leave it at that. If you want to watch Jessica Alba swim around in the ocean (or the "blue") than watch this movie, and other than that, save your money or go spend it on somthing worth while, like 15 games at your local arcade...

...O yea, and if you want to see a movie where "the Dude" (i.e. The Big Lebowski) is an evil sea-worthy bad guy, than this films for you!

Hustle -n- Flow -n- Serenity?

Just so you know that is the name of two different movies, but just so you know. The reason that I am writing about these two at the same time is that I rented them both in the same night. The first night, by default, I viewed Hustle -n- Flow, and the second night was my viewing of Serenity.

Hustle- If bad language, drugs, pimps, and violence offends you... well than your just a normal person. This is a movie full of all of the above, but there is somthing more to this flick. It's the story of a man in his mid-life-crisis. Through a series of events he digs into his inner soul and finds himself. He is a rapper, a musician, and a man on a mission. The story was very well written and Terrance Howard did a superb job of acting. Sounds though, where what caught my attention. I have a surround-sound system and never have I noticed it's potential, until I watched this film. I don't know if watching a film about a pimp is worth-wile, or "educational"
but I feel as if there is somthing to offer, I just can't put my finger on it.

Serenity- Do you like Star Wars? Think that Han Solo is the badest dude in the movies (other than Indiana Jones)? Than you won't like this movie. It's a cheesy remake of Star Wars mixed with, well crap... pardon my French! The main character is this guy who flys a space ship (that he loves), he is a mercenary for hire, and he dresses like, and wears a gun like Han Solo. It's Han Solo played by either a "B movie" actor or a former soap star. Some parts were interesting and parts were "ok", but because of the shear savage pathetic ripoff I give this movie TWO THUMBS DOWN. I shall say no more!~

Thumbsucker

What do you get when you cross Napolian Dynamite with Garden State? You got it... A movie that is so artsy and wierd that you really don't know if you supposed to laugh or boycot. Thumbsucker is that movie. It tells the story of... well I guess it's about addictions. The main character is a highschool student who sucks his thumb. He losses this habbit by adopting a new one. It's very strange and artsy.

Garden State is an artsy movie, but one that was very well made. It has an amazing soundtrack and superb acting. I think that art films should only come around every once in a while. An overload of these i.e. Thumbsucker, Chumscruber, etc. is just that... an overload.

The only thing worth seeing in this flick is the hippie doc. played by none other than Keanu Reeves. (just kidding)

The Constant Gardener

This is a movie that tells the story of a white couple in Africa and one of them is working on a secret project.

And that is all that I'm going to give away. This was a very well made picture. Compelling cast, amazing cinimatography, and a story to match were only some of the highlights of this movie. It's not an action packed blockbuster, but there is Oscar material. Ralph Fiennes gives a steeler performance and Rachel Weisz is up for an academy award for supporting role. The film is also in Oscar runnings for writting adaptation, and it's beautiful score.
